My research question is: How did Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz challenge the gender roles of her time, and how did she affect women after her time leading up to the modern day? This research is significant in that gender roles have changed drastically over time. Understanding the perspective of a woman who had an effect on these revolutionary changes will make history easier to analyze. My research will include analyzing Cruz’s works and how society reacted to her radical views. Additionally, I will research women’s continuation of her views and how this continued to change gender roles over time.

This is a super interesting topic and incredibly relevant to today! I think it will be interesting to see if any of the feminist movements that are happening right now in Latin America have acknowledged any of her work.

This is a very interesting topic! However, your research topic seeks to answer two separate questions and I’m wondering if that might complicate your approach toward completing your research. Also, the second question may be difficult to answer depending on the amount of literature on the subject, but I can’t say that for certain, so I encourage you to do your best in looking for those sources! Also, it would be important to specify what kind of women you are going to include in your research who were affected by Cruz. Specifically, it would be important to mention if you’re only going to look at Mexican women, women of any Latinx background, or all women around the world. Good luck with your research and I’m excited to see what you find!

One thing that sticks out with this topic is how relatable it is to today, giving it a lot of modern significance. I think it will be interesting to see how her works influenced feminist movements in later centuries. As others said, try to mention whether you’re looking at just Mexican women or Latin American women as a whole.
